About the Demo Version…
The demo version will not allow you to Install a pattern permanently, Export patterns to disk or Save changes made in the Editor. You may Import and Apply patterns, as well as use all of the features of the Editor. To see changes made while in the Editor, use the Eye tool.
Some enhancements have been made in v2.1.3 to better handle pattern importing, exporting, editing and installing. These enhancements are:
Import All Button (on import dialog)
Imports all patterns from the disk file, so you do not have to import them one at a time.
Importing patterns up to 256 x 256 in size is now supported, and an example of these is included. The Chameleon Editor is limited to patterns 128 x 128 in size (for now), but "ppat Tool" is included, so you can make your own big patterns.
Note that in graphics modes above 256 colors (thousands and millions), a 256 x 256 pattern will appear "cut" in half. There is no danger here, it is just a visual anomaly, and the original pattern will appear again when you return to 256 color mode. 128 x 128 patterns or smaller will not change in the higher color modes.
Delete All Patterns (File Menu)
Deletes all patterns from the Chameleon internal set, so you do not have to delete them one at a time. Be sure to export any patterns you want to save BEFORE you do a Delete All Patterns, as it is not undoable.
Editor Window Changes
The current pattern size is now shown above the actual size window.
The pixel location of the drawing tools is now shown below the actual size window.
Revert Pattern (Modify Menu)
Reverts the pattern you are editing back to it's original size and form. This is much easier that exiting the Editor without saving, then reentering the Editor.
Installing Patterns
Clicking the Install Button now adds an application to your Startup Items folder that applies the pattern to the desktop at startup. PowerBook users should use this install method only.
The previous Install Pattern in System is still supported, but it is only accessible through the File Menu.
Fixes
There were many small fixes that were done to all areas of Chameleon, including the import routines, Paint Bucket Tool, invert, higher color modes and the Editor and clipboard I/O.
All features, including the new ones, are fully described in Balloon Help, so use it if you need to.
